Our Winter Park Preschool class transitions children from dependence on adults to learning the benefits of interdependence. Children at this developmental stage progress from parallel play to interactive play. With developmentally appropriate experiences, preschoolers learn how to show genuine affection and concern for members of their school family during their time at our center.
The emotionally secure foundation created in early child care enables these children to explore a broader world confidently. Children in this class are provided with play-based experiences to develop their individual literacy in math, science, engineering, and language.
In addition to developing their intellectual capacities, Ms. Ruth and Ms. Mari help our preschool children develop the ability to recognize feelings in others and offer an appropriate and caring response. This empathic ability is key to developing emotional intelligence. Ms. Ruth has her CDA and Ms. Mari has completed her initial training.
"Social-emotional skills like self-regulation are better predictors of life success than any other factor" (Child Trends, 2017).
