According to Ramey and Ramey (1999) and Jensen (2005) the best developmental timetable for wiring problem-solving skills is in ages three and four so our focus in the Pre-kindergarten Program is problem solving. Ms. Jessica, our lead VPK teacher, is working on her bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and has implemented the High Scope Curriculum in combination with the Frog Street Curriculum. Ms. Diana, our bilingual VPK lead teacher, is an experienced teacher who has earned her certificate in early childhood development (CDA). Within the High Scope Curriculum children plan, do, and review their learning experiences each day. Each day Ms. Jessica and Ms. Diana also plan interesting centers, do engaging activities, and review observations to support each child's learning and developmental growth. These talented teachers provide joyful learning experiences for their VPK students as children play with science concepts, letter sounds, and numeracy. Children in this program also engage in problem solving as they apply self-regulation skills they learned in our earlier programs.
