According to Ramey and Ramey (1999) and Jensen (2005) the best developmental timetable for wiring problem-solving skills is in ages three and four so our focus in the Late Preschool Program is problem solving. Ms. Kayla, our lead VPK teacher, is working on her bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and has implemented the High Scope Curriculum. Ms. Ruth, our bilingual VPK teacher, has her bachelor's degree in education. Within the High Scope Curriculum children plan, do, and review their learning experiences each day. Each day Ms. Kayla and Ms. Ruth also plan interesting centers, do engaging activities, and review observations to support each child's learning and developmental growth. These talented teachers provide joyful learning experiences for their VPK students as children play with science concepts, letter sounds, and numeracy. Children in this program also engage in problem solving as they apply self-regulation skills they learned in our earlier programs.
